Day 1) Arrive at Cochin airport and travel to Cochin, one of the most interesting historic towns in India. In Old Cochin you can admire the picturesque historic buildings and the European influence on the local architecture. Among the major sights to visit are the Santa Cruz Cathedral, St. Francis Church, the Synagogue, the Dutch Palace, the Chinese fishing nets and more.
Day 2) Full-day sightseeing in Cochin.
Day 3) Travel to Alleppey and enjoy a backwater cruise. Alleppey is one of the major centers for the coir industry, and it is also famous for the snake boat race and backwater cruises.
Day 4) Travel to Thekkady to explore the fascinating Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary with its multitude of bird and butterfly species.
Day 5) Full-day sightseeing in Thekkady.
Day 6) Travel to Munnar, famous for the picture-perfect, green carpet looking tea gardens. Enroute you can acquaint yourself with and be mesmerized by the variety of Keralan spices and by the beautiful landscape. Among the many places to explore are the Eravikulam National Park, the Mattupetty Dam, the Kundala Lake, top stations and more.
Day 7) Full-day sightseeing in Munnar.
Day 8) Travel to Mettupalayam and catch the train to the top of the hill. In the afternoon, you can catch the train to Coonoor and stay overnight at a local hotel.
Day 9) After more sightseeing in the morning, you can catch an evening train to Ooty.Your train journey will take you through scenic mountains, beautiful valleys and green landscapes. Ooty was developed as a hill station by the British for their summer holidays for the months of April through June.
Among the many attractions in Ooty are the Botanical Garden, the Rose Garden, the Dodabetta Peak and more.
Day 10) Full-day sightseeing in Ooty.
Day 11) Optional overnight stay in Mysore, near the Bandipur Wildlife Sanctuary, home to an impressive variety of wild animals that you can see when you are going on the jungle safari.
Day 12) Explore Mysore, the city of royal palaces, and pleasant weather. Some of the major attractions are the Chamundi Hill, museums, the Mysore Palace, Sreerangapatnam (former capital of Haider Ali and his son Tippu Sultan). You can explore all the historic places in Mysore at your own pace in one day.
Day 13) Travel to Chickmagalore. Stop on the way to visit Sravanabelebola, statue of Gommateshwara on the rock dating back to between 980 to 983 AD and which has seven hundred steps.
Then visit the beautiful Hoysala temples in Belur and Halibeed, famous for their unique sculptures and architecture.
Day 14) Travel to Hospet to explore Hampi, the great Vijayanagar Empire with its many and vast palaces and temples. Optional walk to famous Vitthala temple along the river bank.
Major sights in Hampi are the Vitthala temple, the Royal Enclosure, Lotus Mahal, the Elephant stable and much more on the vast Hampi site.
Day 15) Full-day sightseeing in Hampi.
Day 16) Travel to Badami, famous for the Caves and the cave temples, its lake and the museum.
Day 17) Travel from Badami to Goa to enjoy one of the most beautiful coastal sides of India with its old churches and famous beaches.
Day 18) Goa sightseeing and beach visit.
Day 19) Goa sightseeing and beach visit.
Day 20) Drop off at airport/railway station.
